Covid-19 delays commencement of construction.

It was planned to commence construction of the Centre in May 2020, however Covid-19 has forced us to reschedule commencement to April/May 2021.
However, this rescheduling gives us time to gather quotes for the shell building and core services, arrange for the demolition of the old hut and carry out any necessary revisions to the Planning Consent.
Several suppliers are submitting Tenders for the construction of the Community Centre and early indications are very favourable.

Fun Quiz Night raises almost £1,000

The Fun Quiz Night at Henfield Hall on Saturday 14th September 2019 has raised almost £1,000. Fifteen teams took part in a very enjoyable Quiz, with questions compiled by Phyl Eager who was ably assisted by scorekeeper Sally Jennings. A massive thanks to both ladies! Eric Williams, Heather Sleep and Graham Norris prepared terrific Ploughman’s Suppers for everyone and Henfield Scouts worked tirelessly as runners and waiters… Thanks to all!

£177,000 RAISED TO DATE….. Another £80,000 needed!

We have £177,000 in the Building Appeal fund, another £80,000 will enable us to get the old hut demolished and the site preparation work donated for free then construction can begin.
Our grant application has moved to the 2nd stage of the National Lottery assessment process, so we are hoping that our application is a success.

£174,210 raised to date… now for the final push!

The Appeal has raised funds of £174,210 and promissory notes valued at £35,000 so we are getting ever closer to the day when work can start constructing the new Community Centre. A lottery grant has been applied for, but the Lottery don’t generally grant funds to Scout Groups , so we need all the help from kind donors that we can beg.
The Centre will be constructed over two stages, with a contractor constructing the shell building and services, then the second phase will be to complete the internal fit-out. The internal fit-out will be mostly completed by volunteer trades and unskilled labour using mostly donated materials.
If there is anything that you feel that you can do to help, whether a cash donation or a promise of materials or labour, please contact David Malkin via David.malkin@henfield-scout-cc.org
The Scout Community Centre will be a tremendous asset for our village, but we’ve still got a lot of work to do and we need all the help that we can get.
